Bomb, Cocaine, Anarchist's Handbook Found In Anniston Home
01/31/06
ANNISTON, Ala. -- Drug Task Force investigators in Anniston say an accused drug dealer arrested last week had enough munitions to start his own war. Among the items seized were a homemade grenade-like bomb, cocaine and a copy of an anti-government guide for making bombs.
Task Force officers said 26-year-old Avery Bernard Thomas also had a copy of the Anarchist's Handbook on his computer. Investigators said the bomb was made out of pieces of razor blades, nails, and pellets as shrapnel. Lt. Richard Smith said there were other materials to make other bombs.
He said officers recovered powder cocaine, crack and marijuana. They also found two rifles and two pistols, including a Tech Nine handgun.
Federal charges could be filed against Thomas in connection with the explosive device. He was charged with marijuana possession.
Smith said Thomas's mother, 47-year-old Antonia Thomas and his brother 28-year-old Lewis Thomas, also face several drug possession charges.
