Alleged abuse victim found hanged in his prison cell

SALEM, Ore. - Aaron Munoz testified before a grand jury last year about the abuse he allegedly suffered at the hands of Michael Lee Boyles, his former juvenile probation officer.

On Friday night, the 21-year-old was found hanged in his Oregon State Penitentiary cell. His aunt, Kelly Mills of Portland, thinks he killed himself because of the abuse.

Boyles, 49, is awaiting trial on 101 counts involving sex crimes with minors he supervised as a probation officer with the Oregon Youth Authority.

Mills said her nephew first met Boyles in early 1996, when Munoz was 13 and faced charges of shoplifting and breaking into a car.

"The person who was supposed to look after him, the person supposed to support him, did everything he could to harm him," Mills said.
