Libertarians Boost Their Profile at CPAC Conference

(CNSNews.com) - The Libertarian Party says it will boost its profile at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Committee's annual conference in order to "showcase" its ideas.

For the first time, the Libertarian Party will be among the co-sponsors of the conference, which takes place Feb. 17-19 at the Ronald Reagan Building in downtown Washington.

Among other things, the Libertarians said they will take part in a discussion about the war on drugs -- and whether conservatives should continue supporting the effort. The Libertarian Party considers the war on drugs an expensive failure, and it favors drug legalization, a position rejected by many conservative groups.

The Libertarians also believe that less is more when it comes to government: According to their website, they stand for a free-market economy, civil liberties and personal freedom, free trade and a foreign policy of non-intervention.
