CRIMES: Drugs busting American-style
POLICE today launched an American-style dawn raid as part of a new initiative to "rattle the cages" of criminals.
In a move to keep drug dealers on edge, not knowing when the police might come calling, a team smashed their way into a city centre home.
The tactic has been adopted from America, and drug enforcement teams have used it successfully in North Yorkshire to disrupt the activities of drugs dealers.
At 7am this morning, officers wearing body armour and helmets crashed through the side door of a home in Saxon Road, Eastfield, Peterborough.
The warrant was executed in seconds, and although no drugs were found and no arrests made, the detective leading the raid said it had still been worthwhile.
