Reporter pleads guilty in pot case
From staff reports
David Holden, a Huntsville Times reporter, pleaded guilty Monday in Limestone County court to possession of marijuana.
Holden was arrested in Athens in May 2004 and charged with second-degree assault, driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. The assault and DUI charges were dropped, said Limestone County District Attorney Kristi Valls.
Holden received a one-year sentence that was suspended in lieu of two years of unsupervised probation and a $1,000 fine, Valls said.

Not to wish more ill upon this person, but in what world does the possession of a substance, for personal use no less, weigh heavier than a direct infringement on soverign rights. Who cares that he possessed marijuana, what matters is that he was DUI. I don't care if you down a 5th of Jack and chase it with 4bennies and a joint so long as you don't endanger others by getting into a car and driving. Yet, the DUI charge was the one that was dropped. I just don't get it.
