Navy ships swoop on £350m cocaine haul
02/03/06
British ships in the Caribbean have seized one of the world's biggest drug hauls, with the Navy confiscating cocaine with a UK street value of £350 million.
The sunset operation involving the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary took place February 1, and resulted in a three and a half ton haul of cocaine, which had been stashed in sacks.
John Reid, the Defence Secretary, praised the work of the crews involved in the raid on the cargo ship in the south-west Caribbean off Miami.
