LaCrosse County Considers Changing Pot Law

Pot possession might not be a crime much longer in LaCrosse county. A county board committee voted to change simple possession from a crime to an ordinance violation. That's fine with Pat Ruda with the Coulee Council on Addictions. She doesn't believe tough drug laws are always the best remedy for addiction. She wants more money and emphasis on treatment and aftercare. The full board will have the final say on the counties marijuana law. If they vote in favor of the change. Getting caught with a quarter ounce or less would get you a 100 dollar ticket. But, no criminal charge.
