Cannabis disguised as Christmas tree

A CANNABIS grower got into the festive spirit by disguising one of his plants — as a Christmas tree.

But catering assistant Ben Ollis was feeling anything but cheery when he was hauled before Norwich magistrates yesterday.

  • I think you're setting a poor example for young people by making light of cannabis. Marijuana is an addictive substance and we should do everything we can to keep young people drug free.

  • I agree with the last post. Legalizing drugs is a public health threat.

  • The two previous posters might do well to educate themselves on cannabis. Unlike nicotine and alcohol, the body will not adapt to cannabis and therefore by definition it IS NOT addictive.

The dangers associated with marijuana come from it's prohibition: Danger of being jailed, danger of dealing with members organized crime, danger of buying contaminated product, all of these are a product of prohibiting a drug that is much less harmful than those already available to the populace.

Consider this: If your children are exposed to marijuana, you as a parent you will have no idea where this exposure will come from. You won't know if it is indeed marijuana they're being exposed to or something else. That's assuming that the police don't get a hold of your child first, and put them in a holding cell with really dangerous criminals (as well as saddle them with a record as a drug offender). If you truly want to protect your children, you should be an advocate of the legalization and regulation of this herb.

Legalization and regulation worked with far more dangerous drugs like alcohol and nicotine, it will work with a relatively harmless drug like cannabis.

  • Christmas pot trees are common in my community. Its funny and fun.

I would have done one myself, other than the fact that I hate jesus and christians, so I dont celebrate that horrible holiday.

  • Yep that was me in the paper clipping, the police took my plants and arrested me a few days before xmas eve. Y? because a gas man had illegally entered my flat without my permission. I am told if this happened in your country the evidence would be inadmissable due to being obtained illegally. Only had five plants, the one dressed as a xmas tree was seperated from others as it was male. Didne have a tree so thought i should.
Anyway it made the judge laugh!

Todays moral: Lock your doors, the spys are everywhere.

I live in America and as far as I can remember America was founded on the drug trade! Native Americans were used as slave labor to grow and process sugar cane into processed sugar, a highly addictive drug! and after most of the reds were dead the landholders went to Africa to look for their next ready labor force! Present day...sugar and highly processed "foods" are everywhere...chances are if you have children they are obese! why is that? not because of marijuana. you want kids to stay off drugs. quit doping them on sugar!!!!!!!

  • This is Bens Cousin here, funny thing is I dressed a Ganja plant up like a chrisstmas tree years ago. The police entered my house on a completely different matter, on seeing the plant they just had a chuckle and left leaving me with my plant. Not all cops are assholes, Just most of them.
