CANANDAIGUA (NY)— A substitute teacher at Canandaigua Academy was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly tried to buy marijuana from an Academy student.

Todd B. Christensen, 34, of Penn Yan, was charged Tuesday by Canandaigua City Police with unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to Ontario County jail in lieu of $2,500 cash/$5,000 bond.

Police said Christensen — who was working through Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES’ substitute service — asked an Academy student to sell him marijuana in December.

A six-week investigation ended Tuesday, when a teenager working as a police informant set up a drug deal that was to take place on North Main Street. After it did, officers moved in and arrested Christensen, police said.
