U.S. Removes Thailand From Drug-Producing List, Cites Canada
March 4 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. removed Thailand from its list of major drug-producing countries, while warning Canada its lax laws are enabling an increase in marijuana smuggling.
``The lack of significant judicial sanctions against marijuana producers is resulting in greater involvement in the burgeoning marijuana industry by organized criminal groups'' in Canada, President George W. Bush said in a statement accompanying the annual U.S. State Department report issued in Washington.
