Former probation officer gets long prison term

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Former youth probation officer Michael Lee Boyles will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Boyles, 50, was convicted in July of sexually abusing five boys under his supervision. His sentencing had been postponed twice, but his effort to again delay the inevitable met a dead end Thursday.

"The victims have been jerked around enough in this case," said Judge Michael Marcus, who sentenced Boyles to 80 years in prison.

Police said that under Boyles' supervision, the children were frequently placed in the foster home of a Boyles acquaintance, so that they would be available for sexual abuse.
